Baltimore gets their first chance at redemption from last season, as they face off against their divisional rival, the Bengals in Week 1. NFL Odds are favoring the Baltimore Ravens at home by -6, and even though more people are taking the Bengals, this game is very winnable for the Ravens. The Bengals are tough, but beatable.
Joe Flacco outplayed Tom Brady in the AFC Title game last season, but Billy Cundiff’s missed field goal sealed the Raven’s fate and sent them home earlier than expected. I know I’m not they only one that thinks the Super Bowl would have been a lot different if Cundiff had made that field goal, and the Ravens went on to play the Giants.
Last season was last season, and the only thing Baltimore can do is worry about 2012. Getting off a good start against the Bengals is step one. The Ravens should play this game angry and motivated.
Fresh off a new contract, Ray Rice gets his first real action of the league, and even though the Bengals have a tough defense, Rice should affect the run and pass game enough to have a monster game. As long as Cam Cameron doesn’t fall in love with the pass, Rice should be the key for the Ravens. Cincinnati has a better pass defense than run defense, so Rice should at the very least get 20 touches.
Flacco should bring his mustache and A game as well. I expect all of the Ravens to have solid games, and for Baltimore to get a win.
