According to Adam Schefter of ESPN the Bengals have signed former Brown and Saints center Jeff Faine. This move comes after Cincinnati receives the news that starting center Kyle Cook might be out for an extensive time period after injuring his foot in last week’s preseason game. Injuries have really taken a toll on Cincinnati’s offensive line with projected starting left guard Travelle Wharton already sidelined for the season. Faine a 10 year veteran should provide some stability at the center position. If nothing else it is a better option than a UDFA or an inexperienced backup.
If Cook fails to come back from the injury it could signal the end of his career with the Bengals. After signing an extension at the beginning of last season the former undrafted free agent from Michigan State was a major disappointment as he struggled through most of the season.
